Tripura HC Order: TTADC Stops Salaries of Group A & B Officers Pending Further Directions

Following directions of the Tripura High Court, the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTADC) has stopped the salaries of its Group A and Group B officers until further orders.The decision follows communications from the High Court concerning the implementation of directions relating to the payment of retirement benefits to former TTADC employees.

The matter arose after questions were raised over the non-payment of approved retirement benefits to several retired employees.According to the report, some retired employees had been sanctioned retirement benefits, but the approved amounts had not been released. The issue subsequently reached the High Court in W.P.(C) No. 658 of 2025.The Court sought action from the concerned authorities and directed the TTADC to take necessary steps regarding the outstanding retirement benefits. The matter also involved the Council’s financial position and the role of its senior officials in implementing the Court’s directions.

Following the Court’s intervention, the TTADC authorities issued instructions affecting the salaries of Group A and Group B officers, with the payments to remain withheld until further directions.The development has created administrative pressure within the Council, particularly concerning compliance with the High Court’s directions and the payment of pending retirement benefits to former employees.
