Tripura HC Grants Relief to Nine T-TET Aspirants, Orders Revision of Marks

The Tripura High Court has granted relief to nine candidates who appeared in the T-TET 2024 Paper-I examination, directing the concerned authorities to add one mark to the score of each petitioner. The order was passed by Justice Biswajit Palit while deciding a writ petition filed by the candidates, who had challenged the treatment of a particular question in the final answer key.The controversy centred on a question concerning the “Anarchic Theory of Intelligence”. According to the petitioners, the answer they selected had been accepted as correct when the same question appeared in the T-TET examination conducted in 2022. However, a different answer was treated as correct in the 2024 examination. The candidates argued that this change in the answer key had cost each of them one crucial mark, leaving them short of the qualifying marks required in their respective categories. The State opposed the petition, pointing out that the candidates had not raised objections during the period provided for challenging the provisional answer key. The authorities also relied upon the opinion of an expert committee, which had supported the answer reflected in the final key.The High Court, however, found that the authorities had not adequately demonstrated the basis on which the expert committee had reached its conclusion. The Court also took note of the fact that the answer chosen by the petitioners had previously been accepted for the same question in the 2022 T-TET examination. In the absence of a satisfactory explanation for the change in approach, the Court held that the petitioners were entitled to the additional mark. The authorities have been directed to revise the marks of all nine petitioners within two months and declare their results thereafter in accordance with the Court’s directions.
